best way to follow up Aural Pleasure on Friday: Shift on Saturday!

Mikey (DJ MAJR) is back at Cobalt for Shift this Saturday and is joined by some stellar DJs.

Aaron Riggins will be making his DJ debut- and I'm pumped to see this! I've DJ'd for him a bunch at Hotel Homo Happy Hour and WTF? at Town. He throws some of the best parties in DC, so it will be fun to see him on the other side of things!

And Gavin Hollan from Noveau Riche will also be spinning- should be fun! Eek- another crazy weekend!

Mikey was even kind enough to send me a little teaser mix for this Saturday!

check out my boys Le Roy on the radio today!

My buddies from Moline have an awesome rap group called Le Roy and make great/fun music- check them out on the radio today! Stream it here NOW (12 eastern)- Vocalo 89.5

this is like a flashback. this is like a dream. this is like all the things you can fit inside a memory.

The new Calvin Harris album came out today and i LOVEEEE it! I saw a cool blog post at LA Friendly that said his goal was to create "stadium dance"music- and the ambitous goal is present in "Ready for the Weekend." It's big, it's bold, it's pop.. it's uniquely calvin harris. i just love his sound- he can do hip hop, indie, and/or pop- and whatever he touches is golden. oh- and he's totally cute and Scottish. Get the album ASAP!

Here's a cool video on a human-synthasizer project he did

And here's one free d/l...

birthday weekend plans!

Yay- today I am 24! I have already listened to "Birthday Sex" 6 times. I haven't been in DC for my birthday since my 21st. 22 was in Xi'an, China and 23 was in Des Moines, IA. Needless to say I'm excited, and here's my preview for my birthday weekend. Also- happy birthday to 2 DC greats- Travis and Scott! Happy Birthday to my cousins Meghan and Sarah. Happy 4 year anniversary to my brother Scott and sister-in-law Katie. And Happy Birthday to Fidel Castro, Alfred Hitchcock, and Sir Mix-A-Lot!

TODAY! Thursday August 13th
I'll probably hit up Homo Hotel Happy Hour on the early side where Mikey from Shift is DJ'ing this month. It's at the Dupont Hotel. Fun music- outside- tons of gays. It will be a good/dangerous start to the night!

Tonight I'm going to my home-away-from-home, The Duplex Diner. I might be doing some guest DJ'ing as well- at least i'll be demanding that Birthday Sex be played a few times.

FRIDAY
I'll probably be going to get a new tattoo- I think I'm going to make that a birthday tradition- got my first one was last birthday and have been planning a new once since.

SATURDAY
Going to BYT's Summer Camp at the Capitol Skyline Hotel during the day. This week's theme is "Kazoo Camp Mother Truckers."- i like pools and hipsters and kazoos. So I'll be there.

That night, my favorite dance party (other than Aural Pleasure of course) is back: Mixtape w/ DJs Shea Van Horn and Matt Bailer at the RnR Hotel. May be planning a pregame of sorts, so let me know if you're in. This Mixtape is also w/ the DJs from Taint- and they'll be celebrating RnR's 3rd year anniversary (and my birthday of course)!

CAZWELL

I've been playing that Cazwell song "It's all over your Face" for a while, but I have to admit I didn't know much about him- OUT Magazine just interviewed him- he's gay and a rapper?! We should book him for Aural Pleasure. Haha.

His songs are really funny and dancey- I dig it- stream some songs here

I actually don't mind this cover of the greatest song ever made..

So the Talking Heads are my hands-down favorite band, and "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" is the song I'm going to get married to (assuming I can get married someday- I guess I can in Iowa). Anyways- I just heard this cover of it by some guy named Miles Fisher- don't know much about him other than he's an actor by trade, is Christian Bale's doppleganger, and does a good David Byrne cover. Oh- it doesn't hurt that he's pretty cute too.

Here's the video for Naive Melody- which is NSFW because it's also a American Psycho tribute. Haha- WTF?!
